Ontario Brings Hope To Haitian Students
McGuinty Government Rebuilding Three Schools; Ontario Students Raise Millions
Three schools destroyed in January's Haiti earthquake will be rebuilt by Ontario.
Fundraising efforts by Ontario students have provided millions to help survivors of January's earthquake that levelled much of Haiti, and now the Ontario government is extending provincial support by rebuilding schools destroyed in the quake.
The government is seeking bids to rebuild the schools in Port-au-Prince. The schools will meet strict standards to make them more resilient to future earthquakes.
Construction will begin in early 2011 and Haitian students should be back in these classrooms in 2012.
This compassion for Haiti is another example of the province's global perspective that is a key driver in the Open Ontario plan
