TIA Students Earn Medals for the Euclid Waterloo Math Contes


May 31, 2017 – After writing the challenging EUCLID WaterlooMath Contest in April, Ms. Yu’s Grade 12 students finally received their hardearned certificates and medals!

The gruelling 2.5 hour contest is held annually at TIA, withthe school constantly posting high results, and this year was no different asTIA’s students once again did not disappoint.

At the top of the group was Sean, a grade 11 student, whoreceived the highest contest score in the school and earning a Contest Medal –the premier form of recognition that the contest offers.

“I’m so happy with my results,” Sean said after learningthat he scored at the top of the school, “honestly, I didn’t expect this atall! My parents would be really glad when they hear about it.”

Sean was joined by Kin, who also scored among the top in theschool, and together they took a photo with Ms. Yu, who was very proud of herclass’ achievements this year.

“It’s quite a challenging exam for students to write,”explained Ms. Yu, “but it pushes them to strive for greater heights and in theend is a great experience. On top of that, the students can include this examon their post-secondary applications.”

A successful score on the test gives TIA’s students an edgein terms of their future application to mathematics, engineering, computerscience, and other technical programs at Canada’s and the world’s universitiesand colleges.
