Awards and Recognitions at TIA
Toronto International Academy has recognized Alex Wu for receiving the highest mark in the 2018 Canadian Senior Mathematics Contest, becoming the school champion, with Harris Ng Li and Kim Long Do receiving recognition for being scoring among the 25% of contestants in Ontario. Paul Wang and Louis Zhang were also recognized by the school for their successful participation in the contest. TIA prides itself in actively encouraging students to participate in mathematics contests, as well as fosters everyone to get involved in the STEMS subjects. We are overjoyed to have students who are as successful in the field of mathematics as those that have participated this year. The 2018 Canadian Senior Mathematics Contest is a prequel to a more ambitious and competitive mathematics contest in the spring of 2019, the University of Waterloo’s Euclid Math Contest. We hope and wish the above students all the best in this contest as well!
TIA has also recognized Mr. Don Petersen as the Teacher of the Semester, for outstanding teaching and winning over the hearts of his classes. Mr. Petersen exudes the kind of educator that the school looks for: kind, professional, knowledgeable, as well as considerate and sensitive to students’ needs. At the same time, Kim Long Do, one of the school’s best Canadian Senior Mathematics contestants, received the Student of the Semester award. Kim Long is recognized for outstanding and extraordinary dedication to his studied inside and outside the classroom, as well as an exemplary respectful attitude to both school staff and peers.
Congratulations to all
